About Dr. Carpenter

Haskell Memorial Hospital welcomed Dr. Scott Carpenter as Emergency Department and Medical Director in September 2022. Dr. Carpenter provides oversight to the emergency department and clinic providers.

Dr. Carpenter and his wife, Heather, live in Abilene. They have three sons, Ethan, Joshua, and Jackson. In addition to following their sons’ sports activities, the couple enjoys traveling abroad.

Since 2007, Jeanne has served as a nurse practitioner in clinics and emergency rooms. Jeanne joined Haskell Memorial Hospital in August 2015, after previously working in other rural areas as well as in Abilene, TX.

Jeanne is committed to providing the very best care to each of her patients and considers each one from a holistic standpoint – body, mind, and spirit.

Jeanne enjoys spending time with her family, pets, and farm animals when she is not caring for patients.

Additional Information

Jordan joined Haskell Memorial Hospital and Rural Health Clinic in 2021 after earning a Master of Science in Nursing and becoming a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner.

Jordan and her husband, Daniel, have two children, Emmett and Indie. The family lives in Knox City. They enjoy riding horses, taking care of their animals, and traveling to new places.

Jordan is dedicated to improving patient outcomes using evidence-based practice. She is passionate about delivering the highest quality healthcare available to the folks in this region.

About Amy

Amy Turner Pennington is a Haskell County native with extensive experience in rural healthcare. Amy graduated from Rochester High School in 2004 and immediately began her pursuit of a career in healthcare. 

Amy returned to Haskell County in 2024 to serve the folks of Haskell County and the region as a Provider in the Haskell Rural Health Clinic. Amy sees patients of all ages and walks of life.

Amy is passionate about helping others and meeting the growing healthcare needs of this area. She says, “What a blessing to be able to do what I love right where I grew up!”

Mrs. Pennington and her husband, Karl, have two children, Cole and Georgia. The family enjoys country living and is active in many aspects of the community.

About Kelby

Kelby joined the medical staff at HMH in 2024 when he and his family decided to move closer to family. He and his wife, Rachel Hemmen, both grew up in small towns. They wanted the same experience for Kelby’s stepson, Eli.

Kelby has experience in many facets of healthcare, including med/surg, surgery, family practice, orthopedics, and emergency medicine. 

Kelby believes that delivering high-quality healthcare requires a team approach. He values the multidisciplinary team at HMH.

In his spare time, Kelby enjoys anything outdoors – hunting and fishing especially.

About Stacy

Stacy Sims, FNP-C began her career in nursing in a level III trauma center, where she worked for seven years. In addition to acquiring invaluable trauma experience, she became an expert in victim care and family advocacy. 

Stacy is married to Lance Sims and is the proud mother of 16-year-old boy/girl twins, Connor and Caitlyn. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, fishing, reading books, and hitting garage sales and thrift shops.

Stacy understands that each patient’s needs are unique. She strives to manage each individual’s care in a manner that achieves the best outcomes for the patient, while making them feel comfortable and heard.

About Philip

Philip Smith grew up in the small community of Tuxedo and graduated from Stamford High School in 2000. He began his career in healthcare at the age of 19 as a paramedic for Stamford EMS.

Philip has been a vital member of the medical staff team in the Haskell Memorial Hospital Emergency Department since 2023. He brings tremendous insight and knowledge of prehospital emergency medicine to the table.

In his spare time, Philip enjoys the outdoors, particularly hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles. Philip is also an accomplished artist/painter, specializing in oil landscapes.

Philip says he chose healthcare because he enjoys taking care of people and has always had a servant’s heart.
