May 7, 2026 (Haskell) – Haskell Memorial Hospital is proud to share that David Shahbodaghi, M.D., MPH, FAAFP, DTM&H, CTH®, CTropMed®, chief medical officer at Haskell Rural Health Clinic, has been inducted into the Order of Military Medical Merit (O2M3), one of the most respected honors in military medicine.
The Order of Military Medical Merit is a private organization founded by the Commanding General of U.S. Army Health Services Command in 1982 to recognize excellence, integrity, professional competence, and service among Army Medical Department personnel.
“Dr. Shahbodaghi’s induction into the Order of Military Medical Merit is an extraordinary honor and a reflection of the professionalism, knowledge, and integrity he brings to medicine every day,” said Michelle Stevens, MHA, CRHCP, CEO of Haskell Memorial Hospital. “Our community benefits from having a physician of his caliber caring for our patients. Dr. Shahbodaghi brings exceptional expertise to Haskell Rural Health Clinic and to the patients and families we serve.”
Dr. Shahbodaghi’s induction honors a career defined by clinical excellence, leadership, and service. In addition to caring for patients at Haskell Memorial Hospital, he serves in the U.S. Army Reserve as the Officer-in-Charge of the 7413 Troop Medical Clinic at Fort Bliss and brings a broad background in family medicine, public health, travel medicine, and clinical tropical medicine. He began seeing patients of all ages this month at Haskell Rural Health Clinic as part of the clinic’s comprehensive primary care team.
Dr. Shahbodaghi earned his medical degree from the West Virginia University School of Medicine and holds a Master of Public Health with concentrations in Global Health and Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and holds recognized credentials in travel health and clinical tropical medicine.
Dr. Shahbodaghi completed his family medicine internship and residency at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident and later as a member of the residency’s teaching faculty. His background also includes military medical leadership, global health experience, and service in a range of domestic and international settings. Dr. Shahbodaghi was the 2025 Army Nominee for the Hero of Military Medicine Award for his work during the COVID-19 pandemic. He has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) with three bronze oak leaf clusters.
