Haskell Memorial Hospital is proud to announce that Kristie Patterson, LVN, has been selected as this year’s recipient of the Lindsey Horton Memorial Scholarship, awarded by the Texas Organization of Rural & Community Hospitals (TORCH).
Kristie has been a valued part of the Haskell Memorial Hospital team for more than seven years, with additional nursing experience at the Haskell Healthcare Center Nursing Home. A licensed vocational nurse (LVN) since 1998, Kristie has built an extensive career across pediatrics, mother/baby care, long-term care, emergency room, and medical-surgical nursing.
While maintaining her employment, Kristie has been working toward advancing her career by becoming a registered nurse (RN). This scholarship helps make that dream possible.
“Kristie is a strong, dedicated clinician and caregiver who exemplifies the very best of our profession and calling,” said Chief Nursing Officer Meghan Shelton, RN-BSN. “She carries herself with strength, and her compassion at the bedside is what makes her the nurse she is. ”
The scholarship honors the memory of Lindsey Horton, a Registered Nurse at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews. In her honor, TORCH created the Lindsey Horton Memorial Scholarship Fund to extend opportunities for rural healthcare professionals across Texas to pursue advanced degrees.
The award was announced at the fall meeting of rural hospitals at the TORCH conference last week.
