ABOUT HASKELL COUNTY HOSPITAL FOUNDATION

Established in 2020, the Haskell County Hospital Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to serving the residents of Haskell County through health education, youth scholarships, and fundraising to benefit the Haskell County Hospital District.

This year, the Foundation awarded its first scholarships to five high school graduates of Haskell County. Scholarship applications are reviewed by the Foundation, and scholarships are awarded to students based upon leadership, academic performance, community involvement, and financial need. Recipients of this year’s $500 scholarships were Brianna Reyes and Macy Rogers, graduates of Rule High School, and Haskell High School graduate, Aubrey Isbell. The $250 scholarships were awarded to Abigail Ortiz of Rule High School and Delaney Hanson of Haskell High School. Scholarship applications are available to students who will graduate from a Haskell County high school with plans to enter the medical field following high school. Recipients of this year’s awards all plan to pursue degrees in the nursing field.

SECOND ANNUAL BUNCO EVENT PLANNED

ALOHA! The Haskell County Hospital Foundation is hosting their second annual Bunco “LUAU” on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. at the Haskell Civic Center. Tickets are $15 each or $150 for a table of 12. For more information, visit Facebook.com and search “Haskell County Hospital Foundation” or visit www.haskellmemorialhospital.com.

“The Foundation’s first Bunco event last year was a tremendous success, largely because of the support and participation of individuals and our sponsors,” said Jerry Cannon, Foundation Board President. He explained that the money raised allowed the Foundation to award a total of $2000 in scholarships to five deserving Haskell County students. “We are thrilled to be hosting our second Bunco fundraiser and hope to make it an annual event,” said Cannon.

Like Bunco for Breast Cancer in Abilene, this event promises to be fun and lively. Bunco is a quick game to learn, so there is no experience necessary. Teams of 12 players are seated at each table, and each team is encouraged to think of a fun name for easier identification. Volunteer referees are stationed around tables to answer questions and award players who roll a bunco with a string of beads. Sponsorships start at $250.00 a table, with higher sponsorship levels available. All sponsorships include tickets for 12, 24, or 36 company players and various marketing packages with each level. There will also be a silent auction at the event with fabulous items donated by individuals and local businesses. Anyone interested in donating an item for the silent auction can drop them off at the hospital or call 940-228-4321 to arrange for them to be picked up.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at the hospital and an online registration and payment option will soon be available. Visit our Facebook page at Haskell County Hospital Foundation to get the latest updates and information.
