Haskell Memorial Hospital, Stamford Hospital District COVID-19 Update

Article by: Haskell Memorial Hospital

COVID-19 Stats

HASKELL, Texas — Haskell Memorial Hospital and Stamford Hospital District continue to monitor and respond to the COVID-19 health threat. Both organizations are in close contact with local, state and national leadership, as well as the Department of State Health Services (DSHS). To date, neither campus has seen any positive COVID-19 cases. Three individuals have been tested with three tests returning a negative result.

Should a positive test result be received, the organizations will first notify the patient, followed by local authorities in the affected county and city. An announcement will then be released to local media and posted to social media and each facility’s website.

All official information will be communicated via news release and posted to social media and facility websites. Haskell Memorial Hospital and Stamford Hospital District are dedicated to keeping our communities informed by providing transparent, accurate information as it becomes available.

Both facilities encourage the public to continue to follow CDC guidelines for limited social interaction, such as maintaining a distance of six feet and staying home whenever possible. Haskell Memorial and Stamford Family Health Center continue to require that patients call rather than visit the clinic if they feel they have been exposed to COVID-19 in order to eliminate possibly exposing others. In this case, individuals are strongly encouraged to call their healthcare provider instead of visiting the emergency department.

Visitation restrictions remain in effect throughout the hospital. Patients in the emergency department are limited to one visitor at a time, while those receiving inpatient care may have two immediate family members at a time. Patients with scheduled lab, radiology, or other outpatient appointments will continue to be seen. All clinics remain open and are conducting phone health screenings prior to scheduling patients.

Proper hand hygiene remains the most effective means of reducing the spread of illness. The CDC recommends the following to further prevent illness:

  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Cover coughs and sneezes
  • Stay home when sick
  • Clean frequently touched surfaces

Haskell Memorial Hospital and Stamford Hospital District remain committed to serving our communities and delivering high-quality, compassionate care. Neither facility has experienced a case of COVID-19. Individuals are encouraged to stay home and call their healthcare provider if they are experiencing symptoms of an illness, including but not limited to fever, chills, shortness of breath or coughing.
